A Great Comic Actor Sings Playback for The Greatest Actor Ever! Western Music and Tap Dancing in a 1950s Tamil Song!

This is a song from the hit movie Kalyanam Panniyum Brahmachaari released in the year 1954 starring Sivaji Ganesan, T R Ramachandran, Padmini, Raagini and others. This song has been sung by the great comic actor Chandrababu and composed by the famous music director of the '50s T G Lingappa. The song was written by yet another unsung Lyricist of Tamil Film Music, K D Santhanam who has written such super hit songs as these - Sindhanai Sei Maname, Ulage Maayam, Maasilaa Nilave Nam, Thanimayile Inimai Kaana Mudiyumaa! Truly amazing that he is relatively unknown in spite of having written such cult classic songs! The movie was directed by P Neelakantan and produced by B R Panthulu who has also acted in this movie. This was the first movie under the Padmini Pictures Banner, which was the famous and succesful production house of B R Panthulu. This particular song features Sivaji and his friend and long time co-actor with whom he has acted in several movies, T R Ramachandran. Sivaji showcases his talent for Tap Dancing in this song. The movie is a hilarious comedy with excellent performances from the entire star cast. Though this movie is a Sivaji Ganesan starrer the title role has been played by T R Ramachandran.  

Evergreen Romantic Song! Super Hit Tamil Movie Inspired by the Super Hit Hollywood Romantic Comedy Come September!

This Evergreen romantic song is from the movie Anbe Vaa starring MGR, Saroja Devi, Nagesh, Manorama, TR Ramachandran (the other famous Ramachandran of the Tamil movie industry) and others. The movie was produced by the leading production house AVM and was directed by the famous director A C Thirulokchander. The music for the movie had been composed by MSV and the lyrics had been written by MGR's favorite lyricist Vaali. This song has been sung by TMS and P Susheela. The plot of the movie is broadly based on the famous English Movie Come September (1961), which features Rock Hudson and Gina Lollobrigida. JB (MG Ramachandran) is a wealthy industrialist who decides to take a break at his Simla home away from business concerns. He lands there to find that his caretaker has rented his house to Geeta's (Saroja Devi)'s family, taken the rent and left for Kasi with his wife. His daughter Manorama and brother in law Nagesh are left in charge of the house and the guests. JB decides not to reveal his identity and pretends to be a wealthy man, Balu, willing to pay rent for a place in the house. Nagesh takes the money and gives him JB's room. He keeps playing practical jokes on Geetha hand they keep clashing. She brings her friends who are on a trip to Simla and tries to drive JB from the house. After he gets the friends on his side, she gets angry and tells her parents to get her married to Asokan, a relative and an air force pilot. By the time Balu confesses his love for her, Geetha's engagement is already fixed. Asokan turns out to be a school friend of JB's but he also agrees to play along with the trick. Asokan discovers that Balu and Sarojadevi are actually in love with each other and steps aside. When Balu is finally revealed as JB, Geetha thinks that the wedding plans are yet another of Balu's practical jokes and tries to run away. He finds her and all misunderstandings are cleared. Birds of Several Kinds! A Movie Gone Missing Earlier! Miraculously Available to Every One Now!

This is the 'Title Song' of the movie Iruvar Ullam starring Sivaji, Saroja Devi, MR Radha, TR Ramachandran, SV Ranga Rao and others. The movie was directed by L V Prasad and was written by M Karunanidhi. Music by the Great K V Mahadevan, Sung by the Great TMS and Lyrics by the Great Kannadasan. The best clip for this song on Youtube happened to be from the beginning of the first part of the full movie upload and hence used here instead of a clip of just the song. There was a time some time back when this movie was not available anywhere and now it is miraculously available for everyone to enjoy as multiple versions on Youtube! Several actresses appear in this song along with Sivaji and the final one to appear is the famous actress Jayanthi whose debut film was in the same year Jeenu Goodu (Kannada).

Galaxy of Stars! Super Hit Pair! Super Hit Movie! Super Hit Song!

This is a super hit song from one of the all time great hit movies of Tamil Cinema, Thillaanaa Mohanaambaal. The cast is a literal compilation of the Who's Who of Tamil Cinema. Sivaji and Padmini in the leading role are supported by the doyens of the Tamil movie industry, Balaiah, Thangavelu, T R Ramachandran, Sahaswaranamam, Nagaiah, Nambiar, C K Saraswathi, Karunanidhi, the list goes on. There are the juniors as well if you can call them that, Nagesh, Balaji, AVM Rajan, Manorama, well as mentioned earlier it is an endless list. It takes a lot to dominate with your acting skills amongst such a galaxy of stars. But one actor stands out in the movie effortlessly not just with his flair for comedy but with his extraordinary acting too! It is Nagesh of course as the inimitable and imperturbable Vaithi! Truly a legend! This particular clip is unique in the sense it starts with the prelude to the song. The song features Padmini performing on stage and Sivaji and his troupe trying to watch it discretely since they have had a small tiff with Padmini and her troupe earlier. Manorama impresses with her expression of appreciation although her appearance in this song is a brief fleeting moment. Enjoy the song!

Two Ramachandrans TR and MG - Two Legends of Tamil Cinema Together in a Comical Song (1960)

T R Ramachandran and M G Ramachandran were both born in the same year 1917 and in the same month January (9th and 17th respectively). Both are true legends of Tamil Cinema in their own right. MGR made his debut in the year 1936 with the movie Sathi Leelavathy. T R Ramachandran's debut movie was Nanda Kumar in the year 1938. T R Ramachandran saw early success in the year 1941 with the Cult Classic Movie of Tamil Cinema, 'Sabapathy', produced and directed by AVM. MGR's first big hit was in the year 1947 with Rajakumari under the Jupiter Pictures banner. After that the meteoric rise and success of MGR is well known and well documented. T R Ramachandran had his own share of success as an individual hero and as a co-star. He acted in several hit movies with Sivaji Ganesan. He then went on to do comical and supporting roles in many films. This hit song features both these legends in a rare appearance together with two other legends, M N Nambiar and Vyjayanthi Mala. The Movie is Bagdad Thirudan, Lyrics, A Maruthakasi and Music is by G Govindarajulu Naidu who was the Musical Guru of the Legendary K B Sundarambal!

Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

This is a hit song from the movie Naam Iruvar (1947), starring T R Mahalingam, T R  Ramachandran, V K Ramasami, T A Jayalakshmi, Baby Kamala and others. This song features Baby Kamala who later went on to become a dancing super star of the Tamil Movie industry in her own right. The plot is as follows. T R Mahalingam plays the part of Sukumar, the son of a black-marketer  who falls in the company of evil friends and invests his money in making a film in accordance with their advice. However, the film never sees the light of the day and leaves Sukumar heavy in debt. He is eventually questioned by financiers and when he fails to pay them, is dragged to court. How he is rescued from his perilous situation forms the climax of the story. At the end of the movie, Sukumar becomes a nationalist and a Gandhian. Nam Iruvar also marked the debut of V. K. Ramasamy who plays the role of an evil old man who desires to marry Sukumar's lady-love Kannamma. The film had a prominent comedy track provided by T. R. Ramachandran of Sabapathy fame. Comical Song from a Comedy Movie - 1960

This is a hit song from the comedy movie Adutha Veettu Penn starring TR Ramachandran, KA Thangavelu, Anjali Devi and others. This movie was originally made in Bengali based on the original Bengali story "Pasher Bari" by Arun Chowdhury, which was first adapted in Bengali in 1952 as Pasher Bari directed by Sudhir Mukherjee and starring Bhanu Bannerjee. It was remade in Telugu as Pakkinti Ammayi (1953) starring Anjali Devi, Relangi, and singer A. M. Rajah. This song has been sung by Sirkazhi Govindarajan and Tiruchi Loganathan both exponents of Carnatic music. The movie was a super hit and the same was remade in Hindi as Padosan in 1968. Padosan too was a super hit!
