This is an evergreen romantic song from the 1960s. The movie is Selvamagal starring Jaishankar, Rajashree and others and the music has been composed by the one and only MSV. Recently the entire Tamil Movie Industry came together and honoured the octogenarian (Thank God!). Excellent rendition as usual by the two greats TMS and P Susheela has made the song a Timeless Classic! Contrary to the popular belief, this meaningful and well crafted song has been written by Vaali and not Kannadasan. But Kannadasn has written two other songs in this movie. Enjoy the song.

1966 Hit - Jayalalitha in "Who are You?"

This is a hit song from the movie "Yaar Nee" starring Jaishankar and Jayalalitha released in the year 1966. This movie was a remake of the 1964 hit Hindi movie "Woh Kaun Thee". The movie was a thriller mystery and the songs in the movie had played a vital role in the movie being a hit. The music for this movie was by Vedha, Lyrics - Kannadhasan, and this song has been sung by P Susheela. The movie starts on an intriguing note. the scene is a dark rainy night. Dr. Anand (Jaishankar) gives a lift to a girl dressed in white saree (Jayalalitha). Her behavior is very mysterious. He drops her outside a cemetery, she disappears inside the cemetery. Dr. Anand is obviously confused. A few days later he gets a call that someone is very ill, when he goes to see the patient inside an eerie bungalow, he is shocked to see the same girl there. The final shock comes to him in the form his wife Sandhya (Jayalalitha again) whose face resembles the girl whom he has met before on the road and the eerie bungalow. Who is this girl? A Rare Song from the 1976 Movie "Mayor Meenatchi"

This rare song is from the movie "Mayor Meenatchi'. This film stars Jai Shankar, K R Vijaya and V K Ramaswamy. Certainly K.R.Vijaya was once the herione of a decade in Tamil Film Industry. It is a hero dominating industry where heroines are mostly just part of it. I dont remember any other eroine hvaing had a chance to create a series of movies in her name. But K.R.Vijaya movies awere an exception. Movies like Mayor Meenatchi, Thirudi, Vaayadi, Gaslight Mangamma, etc are good examples. Even Namma Veetu Deivam can be included. Mayor Meenatchi directed by Madurai Thirumaran was based on a novel in which a scavenger girl becomes a mayor. Jaishankar played the hero role in the movie. M.S.Viswanathan scored music and Kannadasan penned the lyrics.Without any doubt this song tops among all the songs of the movie. The movie also has "Evalo Oru Pennam" by P.Suseela, "Thirumurugan Aruginile Vallikkuraththi" by PJ and VJ, "Kodi vitta chirumallip poove" by VJ.This movie was released on 1976 in which Ilayaraja was introduced to Tamil Movies through Annakkili.
