Simple Lyrics! Profound Lessons for the Journey of Life! Truly Blessed Lyricist! One Outstanding Composer! Great Song!

Kannadasan through the simple lyrics of this song has delivered to the world some great advice and profound lessons for accepting and facing the Journey of Life with calmness and courage. The journey of life begins with your birth which is definitely not in your control. (Aarambathil Pirappum Un Kaiyil Illai). The sequence of events that follow in your life too are absolutely not in your control, though one likes to believe it is otherwise! (Pin Aduthadutha Nadappum Un Kaiyil Illai). The entire course of your life has been designed, pre-destined and laid out before you at the time of your birth. This being the case there is no point in being scared of the future. (Paadhai Vahutha Pinbu Bhayanthenna Laabham). Just look life in its face and live it out with out any fears, guilt or regret, hence this was what you were destined to do during this life time! (Payanam Nadathividu Marainthidum Paavam). These four lines are a perfect and simple extract of the great Bhagavadh Gita! Kannadasan is truly a blessed lyricist! The last part of the song is about hope and faith and belief in the fact that today was a good day and tomorrow will be better day! Apparently when Kannadasan came up with the lyrics of the other song Kelviyin Nayahane, K Balachander had literally fallen at his feet and thanked him for having visualized the climax of the movie in such a lucid manner through the words of the song thereby simplifying the process of shooting the last part of the movie for him! (As told by actor Mohan Ram in a recent TV Interview).

This outstanding composition by the Great MSV is from the movie Apoorva Raagangal (1975) directed by K. Balachander. The film features Kamal Haasan & Srividya in lead roles with Rajinikanth, Jayasudha, Nagesh, Major Sundar Rajan and others in supporting roles. The Kannadasan - MSV pairing is truly an act of God done in order to give the world innumerable timeless classics. There are so many stories behind this song and this movie. This is Rajnikanth's first movie. Srividhya plays the role of a Character inspired by her mother the Great Carnatic Vocalist M L Vasanthakumari. This story is inspired by the 25th story of the legend of Baital Pachisi from 2500 years back. Two creative geniuses have come together to create this timeless classic. Incidentally this song has been sung by Vani Jayaram who came to the Tamil Movie Industry after an initial stint in Bollywood.

Hundreds of Popular Songs! Thousands of Successful Stage Shows! A Career Spanning More than Six Decades! The Unsung Singer with a Unique Voice!

A L Raghavan began his playback singing career in the year 1950 with the movie 'Vijayakumari' under the music direction of C R Subburaman. But he became popular much later with the song "Hello My Dear Raami" which he sang along with the actor/singer J P Chndrababu for the movie "Pudhayal" in the year 1957 under the music direction of Viswanathan Ramamoorthy. He has sung a song in a movie recently in the year 2014 at the ripe old age of 79! He has sung hundreds of songs as a solo singer as well as duets with all the leading Playback Singers of the 50s, 60s and 70s and for all the leading music directors. He was also very successful in conducting musical stage shows along with his popular orchestra, across the globe for over 50 years. He was the playback voice of the famous comedy actor Nagesh and has sung many songs for him in several movies. He is married to the famous actress M N Rajam. This super hit song in which he has sung playback for the superstar Gemini Ganesan is from the movie Paarthaal Pasi Theerum. The movie was a super hit and was released on Pongal Day in the year 1962. The movie had a stellar cast with Sivaji and Saroja Devi as one lead pair and Gemini and Savithri as the other lead pair. The leading pairs were supported by Sowcar Janaki, K A Thangavelu, C K Saraswathi and Kamal Hassan the child artiste in a dual role. With great performances from the entire cast and super hit songs composed by Viswananthan Ramamoorthy,  written by Kannadasan, the movie was bound to succeed at the box office, which it did in great style! The song has been sung so well by P Susheela and A L Raghavan but the fact is no one ever credits A L Raghavan with this song! The general assumption is it was sung by PBS who normally sings for Gemini! A L Raghavan is truy an underrated and unsung singer with a very unique voice!

Auspicious First Song! Super Hit First Movie! Starting Point of A Phenomenal Acting Career!

This is Kamal Hassan's first movie and first song, marking the beginning of a phenomenal and illustrious film career spanning over six decades and going strong even now! Kalathur Kannama is a Tamil romantic drama film starring Gemini, Savithri, Kamal and others. Gemini Ganesan meets Savithri in a Train and falls in love with her. Savithri is the daughter of S V Subbaiah who works for Balaiah. Balaiah the father of Gemini who is opposed to his son marrying beneath his status, convinces Savithri to leave the village. Savithri gives birth to a baby boy, who is however left at an Orphanage by her dad Subbaiah. Finally, Balaiah reveals the truth to Gemini Ganesan and he reunites with Savithri. There have been varying accounts of the story regarding Kamal Hassan's entry into this film: V. S. Srinivasan of Rediff once said that young Hassan had accompanied a doctor who had gone to treat an ill woman at the residence of A V Meiyappan. On hearing a loud noise from a first-floor tenant of the bungalow, the doctor was concerned that it was disturbing his patient. Young Kamal Hassan strode up the stairway to ask the noisemaker (AVM) not to shout over the phone as he was disturbing someone who was ill, leaving the person astonished. An impressed Meiyappan later provided Kamal Hassan an entry into films through this movie. However, the other version is that when Hassan accompanied a family doctor of Meiyappan to his house, Meiyappan's son, producer M. Saravanan noticed Hassan as a hyperactive and bold child. He took him over and introduced young Kamal Hassan to his dad Meiyappan who was looking for a young boy to act in Kalathur Kannamma. The rest as they say is history! Six Decades and more to come of a phenomenal acting and movie career! Music: R. Sudarsanam, Direction: A. Bhimsingh. Lyrics: Vaali, Singer: M S Rajeswari.

Kamal Hits - Manjal Veyil Maalaiyile

Kamal Hits - Manjal Veyil Maalaiyile
This is a hit song from the movie Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu starring Kamal Hassan and Jyothika. The movie had been directed by Gautham Menon and the music for the movie had been composed by Harris Jeyaraj. This particular song has been sung by Hariharan and one of the other voices in this song is Nakul, the now fast growing actor. In fact Nakul's first interest had been music as mentioned by him in an interview. This movie had been one of the last few movies which Jyothika had starred in before getting married to Surya. The director has picturized the subtle development of the romance between Kamal and Jyothika by effectively utilizing a clever sequence of visuals, showing the pair's mutual concern though with slight a distance between them, differences in interests between them, etc, amidst the fast paced and glittering night life in the US. The movie had done reasonably well but it had not appealed to all sections of the audience due to its partly perverse kind of storyline. The singer Krish who is the husband of Tamil actress Sangeetha, by default sings this song whenever he is on stage or when he appears on any TV show!

All the songs in the movie had been a hit. Thanks to the scored music by A R Rahman. Most of Kamal's comedy movies have succeeded at the box office.
