A Rare Song from the 1976 Movie "Mayor Meenatchi"
This rare song is from the movie "Mayor Meenatchi'. This film stars Jai Shankar, K R Vijaya and V K Ramaswamy. Certainly K.R.Vijaya was once the herione of a decade in Tamil Film Industry. It is a hero dominating industry where heroines are mostly just part of it. I dont remember any other eroine hvaing had a chance to create a series of movies in her name. But K.R.Vijaya movies awere an exception. Movies like Mayor Meenatchi, Thirudi, Vaayadi, Gaslight Mangamma, etc are good examples. Even Namma Veetu Deivam can be included. Mayor Meenatchi directed by Madurai Thirumaran was based on a novel in which a scavenger girl becomes a mayor. Jaishankar played the hero role in the movie. M.S.Viswanathan scored music and Kannadasan penned the lyrics.Without any doubt this song tops among all the songs of the movie. The movie also has "Evalo Oru Pennam" by P.Suseela, "Thirumurugan Aruginile Vallikkuraththi" by PJ and VJ, "Kodi vitta chirumallip poove" by VJ.This movie was released on 1976 in which Ilayaraja was introduced to Tamil Movies through Annakkili.
Another Comedy Song - Vaa Vaathiyare
This is a comical song featuring Cho and Manorama from the film Bommalattam. This movie was directed and produced by Muktha Srinivasan. Cho had written the dialogues for the movie. The movie was mostly a comedy movie with a suspense thriller ending. Jaishankar was the hero and Jayalalitha the heroine. This song featuring Cho and Manorama is really hilarious.
Vikram Hits - Aasai Aasai Ippozhuthu
This is a hit song from the movie Dhool starring Vikram, Jyothika, Vivek, Reema Sen and others. The comedy strip in the movie involving Vivek, Mayilsamy and Reema sen is hilarious. Vikram had a series of Hits during that period and of late he has been doing just one movie in two years and even those movies have not been doing that well. He must soon be coming out with a hit though.

This is a hit song from the movie Dhil starring Vikram and Laila. The movie had been a hit and this song too had been a big hit. The movie was directed by Dharani and the music for this song had been composed by Vidhyasagar. Sujatha and Unni Krishnan had sung this song.

This is a hit song from the movie Alaipayudhey starring Madhavan and Shalini directed by Maniratnam. The music for this movie had been scored by A R Rahman. The movie had not done well though. The same had been the case with the Hindi version of the movie starring Rani Mukherjee and Vivek Oberoi.
