This is a superhit song from the movie Roja starring Arvind Swamy and Madhubala. The movie had been directed by Maniratnam. The music for this movie had been composed by A R Rahman. In fact this was A R Rahman's debut movie. Rahman's salary for this movie is supposed to have been INR 25000 (approximately $500) ! The movie had been produced by K Balachander and distributed by his production house Kavithalaya. It has taken two big directors of the Tamil Movie industry to have identified and introduced A R Rahman, one as a producer and the other as a director. The rest as we all know is history. This song and all the other songs in the movie had been huge hits.
